اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي فِيمَنْ هَدَيْتَ وَعَافِنِي فِيمَنْ عَافَيْتَ وَتَوَلَّنِي فِيمَنْ تَوَلَّيْتَ وَبَارِكْ لِي فِيمَا أَعْطَيْتَ وَقِنِي شَرَّ مَا قَضَيْتَ إِنَّكَ تَقْضِي وَلاَ يُقْضَى عَلَيْكَ وَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَذِلُّ مَنْ وَالَيْتَ وَلاَ يَعِزُّ مَنْ عَادَيْتَ تَبَارَكْتَ رَبَّنَا وَتَعَالَيْتَ
Transliteration:
Allahumma ihdini fiman hadayt, wa ‘afini fiman ‘afayt, wa tawallani fiman tawallayt, wa barik li fima a’tayt, wa qini sharra ma qadayt, fa innaka taqdi wa la yuqda ‘alayk, wa innahu la yadhillu man walayt, wa la ya’izzu man ‘adayt, tabarakta rabbana wa ta’alayt.

اے اللہ! مجھے ان لوگوں میں ہدایت دے جنہیں تو نے ہدایت دی، اور مجھے ان لوگوں میں عافیت دے جنہیں تو نے عافیت دی، اور مجھے ان لوگوں میں اپنا دوست بنا لے جنہیں تو نے اپنا دوست بنایا، اور جو کچھ تو نے مجھے دیا ہے اس میں برکت دے، اور مجھے اس برائی سے بچا جو تو نے مقدر کی ہے۔ پس بے شک تو ہی حکم کرتا ہے اور تجھ پر حکم نہیں کیا جا سکتا۔ اور بے شک وہ ذلیل نہیں ہوتا جس سے تو دوستی کرے، اور نہ وہ عزت پاتا ہے جس سے تو دشمنی کرے۔ تو بابرکت ہے، اے ہمارے رب، اور بلند و بالا ہے۔

O Allah, guide me among those You have guided, and grant me well-being among those You have granted well-being, and take me into Your charge among those You have taken into Your charge, and bless me in what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what You have decreed. For indeed, You decree, and no one decrees over You. And indeed, he whom You have befriended is not humiliated, nor is he whom You have taken as an enemy honored. Blessed are You, our Lord, and exalted.

اَللَّهُمَّ اِنَّا نَسۡتَعِيۡنُكَ وَنَسۡتَغْفِرُكَ وَنُؤۡمِنُ بِكَ وَنَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيۡكَ وَنُثۡنِىۡ عَلَيۡكَ ٱلۡخَيۡرَ وَنَشۡكُرُكَ وَلَا نَكۡفُرُكَ وَنَخۡلَعُ وَنَتۡرُكُ مَنۡ يَّفۡجُرُكَ. اَللَّهُمَّ اِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَلَكَ نُصَلِّئ وَنَسۡجُدُ وَاِلَيۡكَ نَسۡعٰى ونَحۡفِدُ ونَرۡجُوۡا رَحۡمَتَكَ وَنَخۡشٰى عَذَابَكَ اِنَّ عَذَابَكَ بِالۡكُفَّارِ مُلۡحِقٌٌ
Transliteration:
Allahumma inna nasta’eenuka wa nastaghfiruka wa nu’minu bika wa natawakkalu ‘alayka wa nuthni ‘alaykal khayra kullahu nashkuruka wa la nakfuruka wa nakhla’u wa natruku man yafjuruka. Allahumma iyyaka na’budu wa laka nusalli wa nasjudu wa ilayka nas’a wa nahfidu narju rahmataka wa nakhsha ‘adhabaka inna ‘adhabaka bil-kuffari mulhiq.

O Allah, we seek Your help and ask for Your forgiveness, and we believe in You and trust in You, and we praise You in the best manner, and we thank You and are not ungrateful to You, and we forsake and abandon those who disobey You. O Allah, we worship You alone, and to You we pray and prostrate, and towards You we strive and hasten. We hope for Your mercy and fear Your punishment. Indeed, Your punishment will overtake the disbelievers.

Which is the correct Dua Qunoot?
The Shafi’i version of Dua Qunoot is considered the correct one, because it is directly rooted in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This version was specifically taught by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), which is clearly proven by the following narration:
“Allaahumma ihdini fiman hadayta wa ‘afini fiman ‘afayta wa tawallani fiman tawallayta wa barik li fima a’tayta, wa qini sharra ma qadayta, fa innaka taqdi wa la yuqda ‘alayk, wa innahu la yadhillu man walayta wa la ya’izzu man ‘adayta, tabarakta Rabbana wa ta’alayta la manja minka illa ilayk.”
This version is narrated by Abu Dawood (Hadith 1213) and al-Nasa’i (Hadith 1725), and it has been authenticated by Imam Al-Albani in his book Al-Arwa (Hadith 429).
Although many scholars, including Imam Al-Albani, consider that Shafi’i version to be more accurate, but they also accept the Hanafi version. Imam Al-Albani verified the authenticity of this version in Al-Arwa, which reinforces its correctness over other versions. Thats why, scholars generally prefer the Shafi’i version because it has a stronger chain of narration and consistent validation.
Now, we present some evidence supporting the correctness of the Shafi’i version of Dua Qunoot. First, we need to understand the essence of Dua Qunoot. Dua e Qunoot is a supplication where we ask Allah for help, not make claims. If you have read the translation of the Hanafi version of Dua Qunoot, then you will notice that it contains not only requests from Allah but also very bold claims.
People also asked Dr. Israr, a prominent Islamic scholar, the same question about which version of Dua Qunoot is correct, and he is also confirmed that the Shafi’i version is the correct one. If you carefully read the translation of both versions, you will see these bold claims in the Hanafi version, such as: “O Allah, we believe in You, we worship You, we ask You, and we place our trust in You.” A true Muslim should feel a sense of humility when making such bold claims, especially before the One who created the entire universe. The purpose of a supplication (dua) is not to make claims, but to humbly ask for Allah’s mercy.
Furthermore, when you read the translation of the Hanafi version, it includes statements like, “O Allah, Your enemy is my enemy.” What greater claim could there be? Ask yourself, have you truly regarded Allah’s enemies as your enemies? Why, then, would you make such a bold claim? Before Allah, we should not make claims, but rather humbly ask for good health, complete faith, blessings in sustenance, and righteous offspring.
After carefully reading both versions, it becomes clear that after reviewing the hadith in Al-Arwa by Imam Al-Albani, the Shafi’i version is the correct one.
